If you know me I am easily distracted. My sister says: I have addpyqxyz. I just laugh, and tend to agree with her 1/2 of the time. I am currently in my first semester of Grad school for Communications/Journalism. It has been a dream of mine for sometime. I have always done for others and put them first my whole life. I was going back and forth as to whether I could do grad school or not. I didn’t think I could handle the online classes, I didn’t think I was good enough.
When you think like that, it eventually is training your brain to believe what you say. I have to say that God has blessed me with a gift to write, a gift to talk, and some would say a gift to make stuff up. In one of my classes I am shocked, but I have the highest grade. I’m the person in the class, where people probably hate because I am setting the standard high for everyone else. I am not telling you this to brag on myself, I am just saying that if you put your mind to it and stay focused on whatever goal is before you; you can do anything.
Staying focused is the most challenging thing for me. We get so busy with life, and tend to put things off until the last moment. We tend to lose our focus and even at times will put God on the side. You see, God wants us to put him first and allow him to be top priority of our life. He’s got great things ahead, but you have to stay focused on the prize.
For example: I have this 20 page paper due tomorrow for Communication Theory. I have the materials, my sources, I have had time, but I just haven’t felt like doing it. I have had a good 2 months to do it. I am not one to wait until the very last moment to do things, but this time I have and I am paying the consequences. Now, I know I will get it finished, because I have high expectations for my life and for this class.
I got so distracted and was so busy that I kept putting it off, and putting it off. It is no ones fault except my own. If I wouldn’t have got distracted, loss my focus, my paper would have been finished. God doesn’t want us to get so busy, that we keep putting him to the side, he wants to be a part of our lives all of the time. He is there to help guide us and teach us. Don’t get so distracted and lose sight of your focus. God has big things in store for your life, you just have to trust him.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path.”
